Bathroom & shower resealing
Shower silicone has a working life of roughly five to seven years in an Adelaide bathroom. Once it lifts at the edges or blackens, water is already tracking behind the tiles — and the damage compounds quietly until it reaches the wall frame.
The problem
Black mould in the shower, silicone peeling away, water seeping into the wall

Our process
How we do it
- Step 01
Full strip-out
Every trace of old silicone is cut and scraped away. Sealing over the top of failed silicone is the single most common shortcut, and it fails within months.
- Step 02
Clean and treat
Joints are cleaned back to bare substrate and treated so mould does not grow back through the new bead.
- Step 03
Dry down
Joints must be bone dry before sealing. We do not rush this step.
- Step 04
Reseal
Neutral-cure sanitary silicone applied and tooled to a consistent concave bead.
Questions
Bathroom & shower resealing — common questions
How long before I can use the shower?
Allow 24 hours before the shower gets wet. Silicone skins over within an hour, but a full cure is what gives you the seal.
Can you just seal over the old silicone?
No. New silicone will not bond to cured silicone, so it peels away and traps the mould underneath. A full strip-out is the only method that lasts.
Will the black mould come back?
Not through the new bead. We treat the substrate before sealing and use anti-fungal sanitary silicone. Surface mould from poor ventilation can still form, but it wipes off.
