External façade & movement joints

Polyurethane Sealing

External joints carry the weatherproofing load for the whole envelope, and most of them are inaccessible once the building is finished — so the sealant, the prep and the joint geometry all have to be right the first time. We work to the documented joint detail, size backing rod to the correct width-to-depth ratio, and use low-modulus or high-hardness sealant depending on whether the joint moves or takes traffic.

Questions

Polyurethane Sealing — common questions

Do you work to a specification?

Yes. We work to the documented joint detail and sealant schedule, and raise an RFI where the detail is unclear or unbuildable rather than substituting on site.

Do you handle height access?

Yes — EWP and rope access work is planned and documented as part of the scope, with the relevant tickets and SWMS in place before we mobilise.

Can you remediate an existing facade?

Yes. Remedial facade sealing is a common scope — typically strip-out and reseal of failed joints on buildings 10 to 20 years old, staged to keep the building operating.
